Great Raid controller Review by James E Warmuth - TX
Great Raid controller have about 5 of these and they do exactly what I need (Posted on 6/9/2016)
Worked as expected, Review by Kenneth Desloover - MI
Worked as expected, but some written instructions on how to connect, or "quick start", would be helpful. (Posted on 6/9/2016)
Excellent product. Review by David Suarez - FL
Excellent product. It works very well, I have had the opportunity to try it for several years on other computers without incidents or problems of any kind. (Posted on 6/9/2016)
Great! Review by Joel
I purchases one of these for a 10 TB RAID5 server a year ago and was so impressed that I recently purchased another for a 24 TB RAID5 that I recently installed. These are great little controllers. The display is a very nice feature. I'm running partially off grid so power usage is a concern for me. These RAID controllers work awesome to keep the power envelope down while still maintaining pretty respectable performance (they can easily sustain 150 MB/s in RAID5 - I haven't tried other RAID levels). All in all, I highly recommend this product. (Posted on 11/10/2015)
Truly great solution! Review by Mark
Product is installed and works exactly as expected. This is truly great solution for specific situations and is exactly what I needed. I can't say enough great things about it. Great customer support as well. Please let me know if there are plans to upgrade this to sata 3 and I'll be first in line. (Posted on 8/13/2013)
If you need fast raid that is software independent and pretty much bullet-proof, get this product. Review by Ron
When I installed the SPM394, I wrestled with getting it first. I soon realized that the SPM394 was working as was the way I had my machine configured that was the REAL problem. Sam (the chief engineer in DATOptics support center) was amazingly nice and patient, spending "as much time as it takes" to help me diagnose the problem. With Sam's expert guidance, I reconfigured my machine w/ a couple minor registry tweaks, and my new RAID 5 is now fast, stable and reliable. I spent the extra bucks on the 394 rather than the 393, so I could have the display panel......I'm glad I did. Made things so much easier...PLUS, if I decide to implement "FreeNAS", it will make the process much more simple. BOTTOM line, I will never again delude myself with the concept of software RAID or plug-in RAID controllers. If you want to build a server, or configure RAID in you desktop.....not have to worry about software conflicts - or drag down your CPU, this is definately a fine path to take! (Posted on 7/30/2013)

Q I recently bought the SPM394 controller and so far, I am very happy with it. But there is one big issue I am facing: I have created two RAIDs at the same time (3 HDDs for RAID5 and 2 HDDs for RAID1). When I boot into Linux (Ubuntu 14.04), both of these RAIDs appear and I can partition and access them. But under Windows (Server 2012), only one of the RAIDs appears in the device list of the device-manager. So I don't even have the ability to see the other RAID. In my opinion, this is a driver-related issue. Is there any driver for Windows that I have to install first? I really hope you can help me, because I'm desperately trying to find a solution for this for days now?
A Your Linux (Ubuntu 14.04) has AHCI 1.3 protocol, which supports Port Multiplier natively, where most Windows drivers only supports AHCI 1.1, 1.2, these protocols do not support PM, therefore you can only see ONE RAID volume. You can try to add a HBA that supports PM, then you will see all RAID volumes in Windows OS
