Serial ATA (SATA - Serial Advanced Technology Attachment) is a computer bus interface for connecting host computer to mass storage devices such as raid volume, hard disk drives and/or optical drives. SATA was designed to replace the older ATA (AT Attachment) standard (also known as EIDE). SATA is able to use the same low level commands, but transfer much higher speed like 1.5Gb (SATA), 3.0Gb (SATA2) and even 6.0Gb (SATA3).
