SAS - Multilane
Serial Attached SCSI (SAS 3Gb / SAS 6Gb) controllers are a computer bus, which moves data to and from computer storage devices such as hard drives and tape drives in serial mode, instead an old fashion parallel mode (SCSI). With SCSI technology as a foundation, SAS uses the standard SCSI command set and offering backwards-compatibility with second or third generation SATA drives. SATA 3.0/6.0 Gbit/s drives may be connected to SAS backplanes, but SAS drives may not be connected to SATA backplanes
