USB2-IC2 (SCSI I 50pin Connector Form Factor Vertical Type) is aUSB 2.0 to EIDE bridge board featuring Cypress CY7C68300-56PVC (USB 2.0 to ATA/ATAPI Native Bridge Controller).
IDE (ATA/ATAPI) Interface: With 6" Length IDC 2X20 Flat Cable
USB 2.0 Interface: One USB B-type-4pin Connector
USB2-IC2 implements a fixed function bridge between one USB port and one ATA or ATAPI based mass storage device port. This bridge adheres to the Mass Storage Class Bulk-Only Transport specification and is intended for self-powered devices.
The USB port of the USB2-IC2 is connected to a host computer directly or via the downstream port of a USB hub. Host software issues commands and data to the USB2-IC2 and receives status and data from the USB2-IC2 using standard USB protocol.
The ATA/ATAPI port of the USB2-IC2 is connected to a mass storage device. A 4Kbyte buffer maximizes ATA/ATAPI data transfer rates by minimizing losses due to device seek times.
The ATA interface supports ATA PIO modes 0, 3, and 4, and Ultra DMA modes 2 and 4. The device initialization process is configurable, enabling the USB2-IC2 to initialize ATA/ATAPI devices without software intervention.
To turn your SCSI enclosure into USB 2.0 Enclose. This allows peripheral vendors a unique opportunity to continue the advantage of the ATA/ATAPI economies of scale while presenting USB2-IC2 into the rapidly expanding USB 2.0 markets, and to replace the slow & expensive SCSI device with cheap & fast EIDE device. SCSI Enclosure vendors using ATA/ATAPI devices now have an immediate and no-risk solution to add USB 2.0 interface to their product lines.
